On Saturday, July 19th, get out of the city to travel to three Prairie visiting rural communities along Battle River Railway and get out of the city! Travel by passenger train to three Prairie towns in rural Alberta and discover a few of Alberta's Hidden Gems.
The train departs from Forestburg and travels to the quaint village of Heisler, Alberta's Premier Village that is also home to Canada's Largest Baseball Glove and famous Heisler sausage! Be sure to bring your cooler to fill up with your purchases of this great locally made sausage from the Heisler General Store. Enjoy a locally sourced meal at the Historic Heisler Hotel to wrap up your day.
After your meal, you will board the train to travel to Rosalind, home of The Detention Brewery, which is located in the old Rosalind School. Here you will enjoy a tour of the brewery, learn about their methods, as well as do a bit of tasting of a few uniquely brewed beer that will surely make your day! After your tour, it's back on the train for the return trip back to Forestburg.
This is a perfect outing for retirees, families or friends looking to enjoy a slice of the country at an easy pace. (Ticket includes train ride, brewery tour, pint of beer and an amazing locally sourced meal)
**There is a 15 minute walk between the train andbrewery. Guests have to be able to walk this distance.**
Depart Forestburg 11:30 am; Arrive in Heisler by 12:15pm for lunch. (approximately 2 hours in Heisler for meal & walk about)
Depart Heisler for Rosalind by 2:00 pm, arrive in Rosalind by 3:00 pm (approximately 2 hours in Rosalind for brewery tour &walk)
5 pm Train departs Rosalind for Forestburg at 5:00 pm;train arrives back in Forestburg by 6:30 pm
